Perhaps you are aware of American diplomatic notes broadcasted by the site Wikileaks. First, we want to let you know that Wikileaks is an international non-profit organization, which began its activity in 2006.
Documents which are “not intended" for public
Wikileaks is a database consisting of 1.2 million diplomatic telegrams and documents containing secret conversations between the U.S. embassy with other embassies around the world. These documents are obtained from leaks, captured from anonymous sources.
On July 25, 2010, Wikileaks published over 70,000 confidential military documents about the war in Afghanistan which were largely referring to civilian victims or the suspected relations between Pakistan and insurgents. After four months, on 28th November, Wikileaks has started to publish another 250 000 diplomatic documents that have sparked a wave of complaints from U.S. authorities. Due to pressure from those who are against Wikileaks, there was used a method to create mirror sites, which are identical copies of the address wikileaks.org. At this moment, only some of the major publications as The New York Times, The Guardinan or Der Spiegel have access to these secret documents. They have announced that they will periodically publish the sources of disclosure based on the Wikileaks archive.
Julian Assange, the journalist who has marked a milestone in Internet history
Julian Assange is the founder and spokesperson of the site with leaks, Australian journalist. He founded Wikileaks in 2006. With the publication of 250,000 secret documents, there had been initiated a criminal case against him, and on 7 December, the founder of Wikileaks, Julian Assange, is placed in detention in London, being accused of rape and sexual violence. As a protest, the supporters of the Wikileaks have broken Visa Mastercad and Amazon.com sites and the Internet appeared an unprecedented conflict ever. This fact proved that Wikileaks disclosure marks a high point in Internet history.
On 16th December, Julian Assange is released from prison, but it can’t be excluded his extradition to Sweden or to the USA. He announced that in case of extradition, he could be subjected to an enormous danger and that he could be killed. In any event, the entire database Wikileaks was encrypted, and in case of extreme situations it will be publicized throughout the global Internet network.
Did Wikileaks reach even Moldova?
The first story that refers to Moldova, based on Wikileaks documents was about the Communist leader Vladimir Voronin, who proposed Marian Lupu ten million dollars in order to create a political alliance during the 2009 crisis in Moldova. This information was made public by the British news site guardian.co.uk. The journalist Luke Harding of the British newspaper The Guardian said that Wikileaks still holds eight secret documents that come from the U.S. Embassy in Chisinau, which aren’t published yet.
From the thousands of published papers, only one referred to the Republic of Moldova, and that’s very few. But let's not forget what the journalist Luke Harding said about those 8 secret documents that refer to Moldova. It remains only to expect their disclosure.
