In an interview for TRIBUNA, the former Prime Minister Vasile Tarlev talked about his present life, his intention to resume the political career, about PCRM and his family and private life.
T: Mr. Tarlev, how is life outside the politics?
V.T.: More peaceful. I have more free time, but also more concerns and questions.
T: Do you miss the times when you were a Prime Minister?
V.T.: I do, like I miss any period of my life that has turned into past (childhood, military service etc.).
T: If you could turn back the hands of time, what would you change?
V.T.: Unfortunately, time cannot be turned back.
T: Why did you resign after seven years of being the head of Government?
V.T.: The main reason was that I did not want to go against my moral and professional principles.
T: What kind of relationship do you have with Vladimir Voronin?
V.T.: Peer relations.
T: What are you proud of?
V.T.: Pride is a sin in Christianity.
T: What is it like to be the Chairman of the National Congress of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs in Moldova?
V.T.: It is a complicated period now.
T: Name three major problems of the national economy?
V.T.: Instability and destructive influence of the political factor, defective legislation and corruption.
T: What is your favourite author?
V.T.: Lev Tolstoi.
T: Divine (cognac) or vodka?
V.T.: I prefer wine.
T: Salsa or tango?
V.T.: Salsa, but the Moldovan dances are closer to my heart.
T: For how many families are you a godfather?
T: Do you keep practicing sport?
V.T.: Yes, with great pleasure.
T: What do you think about the acting Government?
V.T.: They have probably already done what they could. But my expectations, just like other people’s, were higher.
T: Hunting or fishing?
V.T.: Both. It depends on the season and mood.
T: Flat or house?
T: Vlad Filat or Marian Lupu?
V.T.: Each in his place.
T: How do you see your return into politics?
V.T.: In a new party, alternative one.
T: What do you think about PCRM?
V.T.: PCRM is going through hard times. It is on the wrong track and it appears that somebody is destroying this party from inside.
T: What do your daughters do? What about your wife?
V.T.: My youngest daughter goes to school; my eldest daughter and wife are working.
T: Do you believe in the success of the party you intend to create together with Mr. Misin?
V.T.: I do believe! If I didn’t, I wouldn’t have started this project.
T: Why „Vozrojdenie” (Revival)?
V.T.: „Revival” is a preliminary name. The final name will be approved by the first Congress of the party. However, whatever the name of the new party, we believe in the economic and political revival of Moldova.
T: Name three countries that impressed you most and you would like to see again.
V.T.: China, Brazil and the Czech Republic.
T: What can you say about Victor Martin’s quote „Any end is a new beginning”?
V.T.: It is true.
T: EU or Eurasian Customs Union?
V.T.: Moldova in the Eurasian Union with European standards.
T: Where do you see Moldova in five years?
V.T.: Where it is now, but more developed, prosperous with happier people.
T: What are your plans for the future?
V.T.: I have many plans and I hope, with God’s help, they will come true as soon as possible.
T: Thank you.
